Fairfield is ‘Net Carbon Zero’ certified with Toitū.

We are thrilled to announce that Fairfield has achieved Carbon Zero certification with Toitū, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards a greener future.

This achievement highlights our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and contributing positively to the health of our planet.

Our Journey to Carbon Zero

For years, Fairfield has led in environmental stewardship, taking steps to minimise our impact on the environment.

From building energy-efficient homes to waste reduction strategies, we have continuously sought innovative ways to operate sustainably.

We were determined to tackle our carbon emissions thoroughly, so we started a strict process to measure, reduce, and offset them.

The Toitū Certification Process

Toitū, a well-known sustainability certification organisation, provided us with a robust framework to guide us towards achieving Carbon Zero status.

Toitū carefully evaluated our carbon emissions across different parts of our operations through thorough assessment and verification.

This comprehensive analysis helped us find areas to improve and create specific plans to lower our carbon footprint.

These included building waste, diesel & petrol usage, as well as freight to deliver material from the factories to each building site.

Key Initiatives and Achievements

At Fairfield, our path to Carbon Zero certification has been marked by a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

By using pre-fabricated building systems, environmentally friendly materials, and recycling of our waste onsite, we have been able to radically minimise our building waste over the last years.

Through collaboration with local businesses we can develop strategies to collectively decrease our waste even more.

We are currently in the process of transitioning our Diesel vehicle fleet to Hybrid or Petrol alternatives, aiming to further reduce both fuel consumption and emissions.

Additionally, we have invested in carbon offset projects, including a native forest regeneration site located in Marlborough, to mitigate any remaining emissions and achieve a net-zero carbon footprint.
